Cross-Training & Yoga


Nothing like a gentle 45 minute trail run with cool breezes to start the day.  Although the toenail is still unhappy, I couldn’t wait any longer.  It was cool and pleasant adventure on the Red Mountain Trails off Lakeshore Drive but dodging rocks in non-trail running shoes with a gimpy, sore toe isn’t recommended.

This evening we went on a hour hike with the dog at the Preserve.  Pausing to enjoy the falls that return only when we’ve had solid consistent rain.  During the easy hike, my legs, hips, knees, and feet felt good despite yesterday’s racing.

I finished the day with some gentle yoga poses to stretch glutes, hamstrings, low back & chest.  Riding in aerobars create a round-to-flat back & tight shoulders so chest opening poses with a rolled towel or small foam roller can create an amazing restorative, non-effortful posture.

See the pose sequence below that I performed this evening.  Be careful when performing postures if you’ve never done yoga…in fact, seek out a class or instructor first.  As a Registered Kripalu Yoga Teacher & a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner & Group Facilator, I offer individual sessions for all levels if you need a recommendation or would like more information on a sequence for your needs.
